About this test

Practice for the civics part of the US naturalization interview with the 2008 version of the test (USCIS list rev. 01/19). USCIS uses this version for Form N-400 applications filed before October 20, 2025; later applications take the 2025 version.

  • Study: every question in order, with the accepted answers.
  • Topic drills: principles of democracy, system of government, rights, colonial period, the 1800s, recent history, geography, symbols, holidays.
  • Mock test: 10 random questions; you pass with 6 correct, the rule USCIS states for this version.

The real test is oral. Here each question has four options, one of them taken word for word from the USCIS list.

Left out: the 10 questions whose answer changes with elections or depends on where you live. USCIS lists the current names at uscis.gov/citizenship/testupdates.
