About this test

Practice for the FAA Instrument Rating helicopter (IRH) knowledge test with original questions. Rules questions are written from the current text of 14 CFR Parts 61 and 91 on eCFR; instruments, navigation, procedures, weather and helicopter IFR questions are written from the FAA Instrument Flying Handbook (FAA-H-8083-15B), Instrument Procedures Handbook (FAA-H-8083-16B), Helicopter Flying Handbook (FAA-H-8083-21B) and Aviation Weather Handbook (FAA-H-8083-28B). Every correct answer is backed by a passage of the source and checked by two independent verifiers.

  • Study: every question with a short explanation.
  • Topic drills: ifr regulations and currency, flight instruments and systems, navigation and procedures, weather, helicopter ifr operations, human factors and decision-making.
  • Mock test: 60 questions, 42 correct (70%) to pass, as the FAA Airman Knowledge Testing Matrix (revised 9/25/26) states for test IRH.

The questions are written in our own words; this is not the FAA’s question bank. Chart, figure and computer questions that need images are not included.
